Most of your activities on Tom's Hardware will grant you points. As you contribute, your score will grow. This will be even more noticeable as you give "best answers" to other members' questions - we paid a particular attention to retribute more those actions that help the community the most. Your score in turn determines your status. You start with a « Newcomer » status (less than 150 points) and can climb up to « Master » (with more than 150,000 points).

The following actions will grow your score:

  • Opening a « question » thread : 15 points
  • Opening a « discussion » thread : 10 points
  • Opening a « poll » thread : 10 points
  • Posting an answer on a thread : 4 points
  • Posting a comment on a news : 4 points
  • Being selected as the best answer in a thread : 40 points
  • Selecting the best answer for a thread : 25 points
  • Creating your account : 50 points
