sounds like a viral campaign. it's easy to sell stuff if there is controversy.
MGS is overrated. On the PC it would be just another good game. If consoles had more games like MSG, KOTOR and Splinter cell maybe MGS4 would not be such a big deal. It speaks volumes about button mashers and fps's when the release of MSG4 stirs things up. And another thing the playstation people have venerated Hideo Kojima as a god...but ask these young peep squeaks who Sid Meier or Chris Taylor are... and they are clueless.

I'm just guessing but maybe the advanced copy wasn't finished yet, hence the long install times and maybe Konami didn't want them spoil the cut scenes.
Anyhow, I don't think the restrictions about what to talk etc. have affected the final score. By this I mean they didn't ignore the restricted parts.
Sure it's sad what's happening but it has been around for a long time now and I think it will become more and more popular along with 10/10 reviews because most of the game reviewing sites want to be first to review the game.
