Following the launch of SLI for notebooks earlier today, Alienware and Eurocom are the first two notebook builders to announce dual-graphics capability for some of their notebooks.

Eurocom's big, wide Emperor notebook PC with Nvidia SLI on-board.

Eurocom will ship its M590K Emperor in late March or early April with an option of an SLI upgrade. The device looks as intimidating as its name, as it comes with a 19" widescreen and a full-size keyboard in an 11-pound package. Mobile SLI will be a premium product initially: In the case of the M590K, the dual GeForce Go 7800 GTX is a $700 option. The entry-level device with two graphics chips, a 1.66 GHz Turion processor, 1 GB of memory and an 80 GB hard drive starts at about $4200; a fully optioned model can break the $5400 barrier.

The company said that the device is positioned as a "mobile workstation" for designers, engineers or game designers.

Alienware was less specific in details about its SLI plans and simply mentioned that it will be offering two models in the second quarter of this year.
