Kouziro's Got an 11lb 21.5-inch Android Tablet
Is your iPad starting to feel a bit small?
When we clapped eyes on Toshiba's 13-inch tablet last month, we were pretty taken back by the sheer size of the thing. Though it sounds rather easy to imagine, you really haven't seen a 13-inch tablet until you've seen a 13-inch tablet. Seeing it in person really drives home just how much of a difference there is in size when you compare it to the likes of the Galaxy Tab or iPad. With that in mind, we can't even begin to imagine what 21.5-inches looks like in tablet form.
What you see above is Kouziro's FT103 tablet, a 21.5-inch tablet running Google's Android 4.0 operating system. Similar to Toshiba's 13-inch Excite, this tablet isn't designed to leave the home. However, while Toshiba's Excite is designed for couch browsing or watching TV in bed, the FT103 is without a doubt a desktop device. It supports HDMI and 1080p, as well as two USB ports, and Ethernet. It runs on a 1GHz TI OMAP 4428 processor and packs just 8GB of storage, so you won't be ditching your primary computer for this one just yet, but it's not bad as a secondary device. In our opinion, the biggest obstacle will be the fact that this desktop device runs Android. Some might find that, for a desktop device, a mobile OS just isn't enough.
The tablet has a kick-stand and, according to Engadget, weighs a hefty 11 pounds. Rather surprisingly, the price isn't quite as hefty as the device. The FT103 is said to cost ¥34,800 ($437). Not bad for a tablet bigger than a laptop.

An abomination
An abomination
I actually have room for a third monitor on my desk, between the keyboard and upright monitors. If it could run windows and be portable for when I just want to read casually it would be ideal. Oh, and pressure sensitive screen for graphics input.
It's a "table".
There are no displays with 400+ ppi on the planet. Perhaps a few prototype panels...
And Mr. Genius, the larger a screen gets, the less ppi you need to get a crisp image because you will be looking at large displays from a distance, and you won't be able to make out any pixels from a certain distance. You don't watch TV from 30cm away do you?
um . . . It's touch! so you will not be arms length away! That's ok, nice try.
Let me fix that . . .
And you sit on a couch to look at your 21.5 inch tv/tablet/ or any panel? It is not a 60 inch TV hung on a wall where the pixels can be the size of a pencil eraser and no one would care.
Edit: scratch that. look online some more, apparently it doesnt have a battery at all, completely power dependent on an outlet.
Slate.
What's crazy is that a quick Google search for this device shows that most of the internet is referring to this as a tablet. A tablet is a portable device. This thing needs to be plugged in, therefore not portable. Only a few websites get it right and refer to it as an AIO PC.
Why call it a tablet, just call it an Android touch Screen? Or Android Jumbo, or something silly.
