Blizzard Reveals Plans for BlizzCon 2011
BlizzCon 2011 will take place just before Halloween. Spooky.
Monday Blizzard annou8nced that its popular BlizzCon gaming convention will take place this year at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California on Friday, October 21 and Saturday, October 22, 2011.
Although the company was scarce on details about what attendees may see during the event game-wise, Diablo 3 is expected to make an appearance. The next StarCraft 2 installment may also be revealed as well, perhaps even the next World of Warcraft expansion. Nevertheless, attendees should expect the following:
- Hands-on play time with the latest versions of Blizzard Entertainment games
- Discussion panels with Blizzard Entertainment developers
- Competitive and casual tournaments for players to showcase their talents
- Community contests with great prizes
- Commemorative merchandise based on Blizzard Entertainment’s game universes
- More activities and attractions to be announced
"We look forward to holding another exciting BlizzCon this year, filled with some great entertainment and competition, as well as the latest news about Blizzard games," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. "BlizzCon is built from the ground up with our community in mind -- we're pleased to be able to host an event where players can come together to have fun and celebrate their passion for gaming."
Further details about BlizzCon 2011, including ticket availability and pricing, will be announced on the official Blizzard website, www.blizzard.com, as the event draws closer. Last year tickets to the event "sold out in minutes," so keep checking back with Blizzard. We'll keep you updated as well.
Have you been to BlizzCon? Did you sport a cool Blizzard-themed costume? If so, we'd like to see your pictures. Send them to kparrish at bestofmedia dot com--along with a bit of info about the construction of the costume--for a future picture story!
The millions and millions of people enjoying their games every day don't seem to mind.
And they may have new IP in the works, depending on what Project Titan turns out to be. Of course, that could just turn out to be a Starcraft MMO, but who knows. In any event, their current IP seems to be serving them just fine.
Buff marines.
ipconfig /renew :-)
But seriously, Old Blizzard is old. But they will continue to milk WoW until the end of time, because people keep paying.
Im sry but 10 million gamers CAN be wrong, and they are... WoW sucks.
Obviously you're marrying the wrong woman... My wife plays with me
This is coming from someone who doesnt play WOW or SC2 just a fan of quality games
I agree. There are some other publishers that release games as soon as possible without thinking about the quality. Also when you buy a Blizzard game, you know it will last for a while and not be taken over by the sequel too quickly
Not true
It got old in two months? You cleared all the content of the game? If you didn't, your missing out.
What makes WoW amazing isn't the graphics, there dated yes, but they've been patched up from time to time and it still plays way better then 98% of the MMO's out there, and its 100% better then all of them in every category besides graphics(which quite frankly are still amazing) I'd say the 13 million players who play r right, and your just in denial of how great it is.
Depends really. It is true, They don't release games back to back like say COD.
BTW, can't wait for this Blizzcon, hope to see DB3 release date which better be soon, looking forward to hoping to see something from SC2, and i kind of hope not to see anything new for WOW until maybe 2012 but if they do its all good. Anything coming from blizzard is nothing short of Amazing.
therefore D3 will come out late Q2, 2012
