CeBIT 2008: Scythe Brings Massive Passive
Source: Tom's Hardware US – Category : Events 0 comment
Cooling passively a component that generates between 20 and 100 W is a real challenge, but users' enthusiasm for silent PC is still strong. They Scythe decided to go one step further and display its Giant Ninja, the biggest prototype of heat sink for processor we have ever seen. We'll let you be the judge.

Integrating 10 heat pipes in a U shape, this beast can be scary, but this immoderation remains the best guarantee for honorable performances for a passive cooling system, due to the poor air flow generated by the natural convection. However, Scythe counts on the secondary air flow generated by the PSU or the case's fan. Now it's all a matter of making sure the latter is compatible and that you don't need the first memory slot, but performances could be good.
