G.Skill Unveils 2,000 MHz Tri-Channel DDR3 Kits
G.Skill has announced new enthusiast DDR3 triple-channel memory kits rated at speeds of up to 2,000 MHz.
Broadening its Pi Black Series of memory, G.Skill has announced new 2,000 MHz Pi Black DDR3 triple-channel memory kits for the Intel Core i7 platform. These new memory kits come in capacities of both 3 GB and 6 GB, feature memory timings of 9-9-9-24 and have a voltage rating of 1.65 V.
G.Skill also offers 1,600 MHz Pi Black DDR3 triple-channel kits, which have tighter 8-8-8-21 memory timings and a slightly lower 1.6-16.5 V voltage rating. Pricing for the new Pi Black 2,000 MHz DDR3 triple-channel memory is still unknown, but the Pi Black 1,600 MHz DDR3 triple-channel kits can be found listed online for $155.52 (1 GB x 3) and $299.08 (2 GB x 3). G.Skill’s memory modules all carry a lifetime warranty and are guaranteed to operate as specified.
Dual-channel G.Skill Pi Black 2,000 MHz DDR3 memory kits are also available, but these memory modules have a voltage rating of 1.9 V. For use with the Intel Core i7 platform, a memory voltage setting above 1.65 V is not recommended, as it can possibly damage the CPU. The standard supply voltage for DDR3 memory is 1.5 V, compared to the 1.8 V used by standard DDR2 memory.
It would seem G.Skill also has in the works Pi (non-Black) DDR3 triple-channel memory kits, which will clock in at a speed of 1866 MHz and be offered in capacities of 3 GB and 6 GB. These memory modules will come in the color silver, have memory timings of 9-9-9-24 and have a voltage rating of 1.6-1.65 V. According to the G.Skill website, these kits are "coming soon", with prices yet to be announced.
I'll take two thou$and.
Marketing bull and production of faster RAM that doesn't provide real world advantages. Even Triple Channel on i7 doesnt seem to provide much difference compared to Dual in real world apps.
those antibacterial commercials don't kill 99.9% of germs, they kill all if used correctly. but 99.9% sells better.
that could be DDR2 dual channel memory
I always assumed it meant that 0.1% of germs were the indestructible terminator type that couldn't be killed without wiping out the planet in the process.
that could be DDR2 dual channel memory
actually they say 16,5V.
It's 200Mhz memory on 16V =>2Ghz
No, serious,they did type 16,5V!
