Report: HP and Dr. Dre to Join Forces
Dr. Dre and HP have reportedly teamed up and announced a new line of headphones, laptops and software designed to give great sound quality.
Dr. Dre and Monster this summer announced a new line of headphones called Beats by Dr. Dre. Designed with the best quality of sound in mind, the headphones retail for $350. According to CNet (which cites people familiar with the matter), the artist has collaborated with HP and Interscope Chairman Jimmy Iovine on a line of premium-priced laptops, headphones and software that are designed to educate the masses on what music should sound like when you hook up a set of decent headphones.
CNet goes on to say Iovine would not discuss HP or any other company that may be involved during an interview last week but he did confirm that he and Dr. Dre are part of a plan to reconstruct the entire "digital music ecosystem."
"I just want our product to sound better," Iovine told CNet. "The record business committed many, many mistakes in the last 10 years, and I'm right in there. One of them was letting its product get degraded," he said. "It's one thing to let it get stolen, it's another to allow it to be degraded because then you really don't have a chance...video games and TV quality are getting better and the quality of our work is getting lower. If that happens, then music will become disposable. That's something we can fix."

seems like he's whoring his name alot these days...
We have become so jaded as a society that it is hard to imagine someone doing something altruisticly.
"lol yet another scheme to get the cash from uniformed consumers"
As opposed to those who wear more casual clothing?
Actually Interscope and HP are publicly owned multi-billion dollar corporations, HP is worth 113 billion dollars, even Bill Gates doesn't have that much money. Dr. Dre is worth around 150 million dollars therefore he'll require around 1000x of his current net worth to purchase HP and interscope. So don't just go around forums posting crap.
But that's what Tom's writers do...
ZING!
It's called business, capitalism. Dr. Dre is trying to make money and raise sound quality. Just because someone is doing something to make money doesn't mean it's wrong. Dr. Dre is a powerful figure in the music industry and he's trying a business plan that has a positive impact on the rest of us, whether or not you buy his headphones. Seems legit to me.
lol... is this nerdrage even aimed in the right direction? I was merely taking an affectionate pot-shot at our esteemed writers. I appreciate the content they provide and their ability to keep us in the loop on the latest activities of the "Doctor", but it's just so easy to nit-pick their frequent spelling and grammatical errors. I suppose I could have put a smiley face at the end of my comment to illustrate the attempt at humor.
But what on earth were you referring to, Mlop?
