Origin PC Outs New 13" Haswell-based Laptop, BTS Promo

On Monday Origin PC introduced a new high-performance laptop, the EON13-S. The company said it's ideal for PC gamers, artists, professionals and enthusiasts, promising the perfect balance between power and portability. It weighs at a mere 4.4 pounds, and packs features like Intel Core "Haswell" processors and Nvidia's GeForce GTX 765M GPU.

In addition to the new laptop, Origin PC is also celebrating the back-to-school season with an exclusive promotion for one week only. Starting on Monday and ending August 5, customer who purchase any Origin PC system will receive free shipping within the U.S., free Origin PC professional GPU overclocking, a free Corsair M95 high-performance mouse and a free Corsair MM200 mouse pad while supplies last.

As for the laptop, it features a 13.3 inch LED-lit IPS screen with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. On the CPU front, there are four Intel Core i7 quad-core options to choose from: 4700MQ, 4800MQ, 4900MQ and 4930MX processors. There are no GPU options, as the GeForce GT 765M is the only ship offered on this laptop, but customers can add up to 16 GB of dual channel DDR3 1600 MHz memory (two 8 GB sticks).

For storage, there are two mSATA bays and an HDD/SSD bay. That said, customers can add two mSATA drives in 80 GB, 120 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB capacities, one of which can be configured as an OS drive,a cache drive or for storage. They can also be configured in RAID 0 and RAID 1. As for HDDs and SSDs, hard drives range in 320 GB to 1 TB capacities and SSDs range from 120 GB to 960 GB capacities, the latter of which are supplied by Origin PC, Corsair, Samsung, OCZ, Intel and Crucial. Up to three drives total can be added to this laptop.

As for other options, Origin PC provides several flavors of Wireless N and Bluetooth combos, several Sound Blaster audio packages from Creative, an optional TV tuner card and an optional video capture card. Outside these, the base model provides three USB 3.0 ports (one powered), one USB 2.0 port, an illuminated keyboard, an SD card reader, a built-in 2MP webcam, and a finger print reader. Customers can choose Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate as their OS, or Windows 8 or Windows 8 Professional, all 64-bit platforms.

    Hope their is a good warranty on it because, equipped like it it, it will generate a lot of heat. I don't understand 1920x1080 on a 13 inch screen though. @ 1150 $ it's a good price.
