The Yomiuri newspaper is reporting, and Reuters is translating this afternoon, that Hitachi, Toshiba, NEC, Matsushita, and Renesas Technology (a Hitachi/Mitsubishi joint venture) will pool together up to 200 billion yen toward the production of a jointly managed chip fabrication facility. Rumors of this move have been covered by DigiTimes for several weeks.
