Huawei Promises to Deliver Phone to Best Apple, Samsung
6.1-inch Ascend Mate phablet rumored to be in the works.
Huawei has issued bold statements regarding a smartphone that will beat the competition from both Apple and Samsung during the second half of 2013.
German site BestBoyZ met the company in China, where Huawei Chief Marketing Officer Shao Yang stressed the firm's lofty plans for the latter stages of next year.
"If our R&D people have not made a mistake, then we will have something in the second half of 2013 that's better than Apple and Samsung," he claimed.
As for Huawei's plans for early 2013, the company confirmed to BestBoyZ that at CES 2013 it'll unveil a 5-inch smartphone with a 1080p display, joining the emerging market for 5-inch handsets.
Huawei also confirmed that it'll announce a Windows Phone 8 device at the event, which is rumored to be the Ascend W1. It's also said to be working on the 6.1-inch Ascend Mate phablet, which is set to go against Samsung's Galaxy Note 3. The latter will also launch its Galaxy S4 next year.
In terms of Apple's products for 2013, the company is said to be working on the iPhone 5S and iPhone 6, as well as its inevitable successor to the iPad 4 and iPad Mini.

It will take at least 2 premium attempts at the smartphone, more likely 3, to get this to work...

Don't you mean counterfeit Cisco Hardware and Software with Huawei branded on it?
Both ZTE and Huawei have very close ties to the Chinese Government and a few months ago there was a report out there saying they programmed backdoors and other malicious "features" into their smartphones and networking hardware. Not saying it is true but who knows...
Read an article not too long ago that stated Foxconn workers make an average of 5-8$ per ipad assembly. While it would cost 25-30$ for a Korean worker and 38-40$ for an American worker. That is already 20-30$ saved in labor costs they can use to add in any type of hardware from RAM, better CPU, screens, etc.
And please stop using the term "phablet." It's too similar to fapping...
Isn't fapping why its called a phablet
normal style phone that folds out to 6" tablet would be killer. The modern clamshell phone if you will. But I would want to be able to use the phone without unfolding it to tablet size.
Samsung will be the perfect balance between the Chinese stuff and the American stuff. It will be like how modern Hyundai's are better than both German cars and Chinese cars.
