Kingston today announced availability of 667 MHz DDR2 memory for notebooks. The "ValueRAM" branded PC2-6400 devices are available in 256 MByte, 512 MByte and 1 GByte configurations and are shipping in "limited quantities" according to the manufacturer.

Only notebooks equipped with ATI's Radeon Xpress 200 chipset support DDR2-667 SO-DIMMs at this time. Intel will add support for 667 MHz memory devices with the introduction of the Yonah mobile single- and dual-core processor (700-series) and the 945PM chipset during the Consumer Electronics Show in January of next year. Kingston's new memory is priced $58 for the 256 MByte version, at $87 for the 512 MByte variant and at $165 for the 1 GByte module.
