Major LCD Panel Makers Accelerate 8G LCD Investment

Korea-based LCD panel makers, including LG.Philips LCD (LPL) and Samsung Electronics, are accelerating their eighth-generation (8G) investments while major Taiwan-based players such as Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) and AU Optronics (AUO) have also ramped up investment in new plants to produce larger LCD panels, according to the companies and sources. LPL has begun its 8G LCD production.
