Following the first public presentation at the Intel Developer Forum last week, Nvidia previewed its nForce 4 chipset for Intel PCs also at CeBit. According to a company statement the SLI-capable chipset is scheduled for release in April and will allow system builders to create "new enthusiast PCs".

Nvidia said its SLI will remain a high-performance solution to integrate dual graphics cards within on PC, even when Intel will introduce its own dual-graphics support with the upcoming 955X chipset for the dual-core Pentium Extreme Edition. There are no details on Intel's dual x16 integration available yet, but according to the company, it will require a third party "bridge" chip to enable the technology. We would not be surprised, if this bridge chip will be supplied by Nvidia in the framework of the recently announced cross-licensing agreement between the two firms. (THG)
