F.E.A.R.2 DLC and Patch Info
Yesterday Monolith sent over a little clarification in regards to the "Toy Soldier" map pack for F.E.A.R.2: Project Origin. Unfortunately, as of this writing, the upcoming DLC is NOT for the PC version: "We are aware that there has been some confusion regarding the upcoming F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin “Toy Soldier” map pack. As has always been intended by Monolith Productions and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the content will be available free-of-charge in mid-April on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360 and PlayStation Network for the PLAYSTATION 3." Apparently, there will actually be a map pack for the PC version, however the release date and details were not available. Additionally, there's a new patch over on Steam serving up a hefty list of additions and fixes.

More Steam Goodness
The last few days have seen a few updates to games in the Steam library: Grand Ages: Rome and Left 4 Dead. The changes for Grand Ages include adjustments in difficulty, UI improvements and a few fixes in the multiplayer portion. As for Left 4 Dead, the updates are not quite so drastic, addressing the lobby leader's ability to search for an official dedicated server. Lastly, the Soviet Assault expansion pack is now available for World in Conflict, featuring 6 new single missions, a "bevy" of new weapons and more.
Hysteria Hospital: Emergency Ward Demo
Oxygen Games released a playable demo of Hysteria Hospital: Emergency Ward, the upcoming "frantic hospital" time management game coming to the Wii, DS and PC next month. "Do you like a challenge? Can you handle the pace of this frantic, fast paced action-packed game? You have a whole Emergency Ward in your hands – can you cope with the responsibility? This demo showing the addictive and fun game coming soon on Wii, Nintendo DS and PC, gives you a taste of the fun to come!" Download the demo by clicking here.
Star Wars: The Old Republic Stuff
There are a few new items uploaded to the Star Wars: The Old Republic website: Issue #2 of the Old Republic online comic and a second Video Documentary revealing how the LucasArts and BioWare teams "reveal how Story and Setting will enhance the player experience."
Rock Disses Doom Movie
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson recently spoke to MTV News (video) about the 2005 theatrical version of DOOM, where he played the lead role of "Sarge." During the interview, he told MTV News that "we are an example of trying and failing." He also commented that a movie's success or failure always comes down to writing and material, something he doesn't think the "Doom" movie was good at. That comment rings true, and perhaps had the writers stuck with the game's original storyline, the movie would have been a bit more successful. It's still surprising that id Software even approved of the script in the first place...
Adult Content in Second Life Restricted
Alas, it looks as if all the XXX goodness will be restricted in Linden Labs' infamous virtual community, Second Life, as reported in this latest blog. Apparently the company plans to segregate the adult content from the "mainland" in a geographic sense, and houses containing adult content must throw up a flag (or turn on a red light...RAAAAWWXANNE). Linden Labs also plans to throw in a filter so that Second Life "members" not wanting adult content will be XXX-free, and some kind of age verification system. "During the next six weeks, we will seek input from many segments of the Second Life community," the company said. "We will introduce guidelines and define what “Adult” means, we will explain how to designate and “flag” this content, we will introduce the “Adult Continent,” and we will implement technical changes to make this process as efficient as we can."
Play Big Daddy in BioShock 2
This image and this image reveal a sneak peak from the latest issue of Game Informer, showing that gamers will take control of the "the first ever" Big Daddy in BioShock 2. According to creative director Jordan Thomas, players will not only be able to upgrade their various plasmids and weapons, but will also get to use that monstrous drill. Of course, all of this is unconfirmed, however Shacknews pulled all the so-called details together into one list:
• The game is set 10 years after the first BioShock.
• There will be a multiplayer mode, but no details were given.
• The Big Sister is a grown-up Little Sister, and she's hunting you.
• Some levels take place on the sea floor outside of Rapture.
• The Big Sister will periodically pop up after you kill enough Big Daddies. Her arrival is apparently signaled by a Little Sister singing a song.
• The Big Sister is described as fast and "the hardest thing in the game." She'll utilize telekinesis to throw objects at you or use them as shields.
• Your drill overheats, and cannot be used constantly.
• As a Big Daddy, you'll be able to do that nifty shoulder bash move.
• Upgrade trees are now more diverse.
• The Incinerate plasmid allows you to throw a fireball or shoot a stream of fire, depending on upgrades.
• Using Incinerate on a Cyclone Trap will result in a flaming trap.
• You can now heal damaged turrets and bots.
• Multiplayer confirmed.
More to come throughout the weekend.

Cant wait for Bioshock 2...The first one was perhaps the best game i played in 2008.
Man, Bioshock 2 is going to be awesome.
Bioshock 2!!!!
WOOT!!!! bioshock 2!!!! cant freakin wait....
wonder what the requirements will be. the first one took good use of crossfire, thats for sure
ohhh man, cant wait!!!! get to be a big daddy, how awesome is that??
i wonder what the requirements will be... the first one took great use of multicard setups
Am I the only one not looking forward to playing as a big daddy? Don't get me wrong they were cool but I just can't see playing as one.
Fuck yeah!! Bioshock 2!!!
At last the sequel of arguably the best game of 07.
Ho hum.. further exploitation of a classic PC franchise dumbed down for the console crowd with little variation between playing styles and black and white ethical choices.
Still waiting for Wasteland II, Brian Fargo.
I hope they don't turn Bioshock 2 into a console port like they did with FEAR 2... So much potential.
Let the harvesting begin..., sorry honey, Daddy needs a new pair of shoes.!!!
Am I missing a sarcastic joke here...what storyline?
ohhh man, cant wait!!!! get to be a big daddy, how awesome is that??i wonder what the requirements will be... the first one took great use of multicard setups
You sort of already did in the first one...
I hope they don't turn Bioshock 2 into a console port like they did with FEAR 2... So much potential.
Your kidding right? They have had one game which was released on the 360 and PC on the same date (ps3 later). The controls were fantastic on both, what is your point?
I own it and didn't care for it much actually. If you watch the "making it" DVD you realize that they cut out part of the storyline. With the DRM issues it had as well, I think BioShock could have been a much much better game. As it stands, I think it is an enjoyable experience but not what it should have been.
Fuck yeah!! Bioshock 2!!! At last the sequel of arguably the best game of 07.
Very arguably. Very. BioShock 2 will probably be what BioShock should have been.
Honestly, sitting here reading the comments about how "great" BioShock was, I have to wonder as to the average age of you guys...
I think that as a guy who has played so many video games since the 80'ss that a game like BioShock fails to impress me as easily. I guess I'm a little bit tougher crowd. I'm sure someone on this site can relate...
