New model will introduce touch screen and backlit keyboard.
During the Consumer Electronics Show, Samsung confirmed it's upgrading the firm's Series 5 ultrabook.
The upgraded Series 5 will incorporate a touch screen, which will be joined by a backlit keyboard. The overall design of the aluminum chassis is thinner; however, it remains thick enough to sport an optical drive.
The new Series 5 Ultra will be available sometime during February in black, red and pebble blue. A Core i3 version starts at $749, while a Core i5 version will retail for $899.
Samsung also announced the enhanced Series 7 Chronos and the Series 7 ultrabooks during CES.

0 Ðanonymous@guest , February 26, 2013 11:47 AMCan someone confirm that this upgrade got the backlit keyboard. My wife bought one today and there is no hint of a backlit keyboard. Not documented anywhere. Looking at the keys it looks like they might be, but no luck. Model is NP540U3C-A03UB, bought at Best Buy in California.
