Samsung Electronics recently lowered LCD TV prices by 18-20% due to inventory pressure from poor sales in the US, according to sources in the industry. Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO), a key Taiwanese LCD TV panel maker, is also set to cut prices. US retailer giant Wal-Mart returned US$200 million worth of LCD TV stock to Samsung due to unsatisfactory sales.
