Sony Xperia Tablet Pre Order Starts, Free Cradle Included

Sony Xperia tablet Z goes on pre-order; higher priced white model includes complementary cradle.

While Sony’s Xperia Tablet Z is now available for pre-order, a recent sales pitch by the company has started to shift attention to the generally less popular white model. Those who pre-order the 32 GB version in white before May 24, 2013 will receive a free cradle as a bonus.

The tablet runs on Android’s Jelly Bean operating system, with fairly standard specifications for its product class. The 10.1-inch full HD resolution screen is joined by a 1.5 GHz Spandragon S4 Pro as well as 2 GB of RAM. The 2 megapixel front camera and 8 megapixel rear camera are hopefully going to be better than the previous Xperia tablets. The newer tablet at least has a handy IR emitter, which you can use to control your TV or other devices instead of using your remote. The price for the 16 GB black version is currently $499.99, while the promoted 32 GB white model with cradle is $599.99. Visit Sony’s pre-order page here to grab one, or to find more information about the product.

overpriced for the specs, the 32 gig nexus 10 is $499 and blows this thing out of the water... sony needs to learn if they are going to remain relevant they can't price like they used to in their hayday

Article fails to mention the most important feature of Xperia, that isn't found on other devices: it is WATER PROOF. Want to watch some TV show in a hot tub? Here you go.
IR emitter is nice, but not unique.

water resistant not water proof... but yes that does make a big difference, still the hardware isn't amazing for the pricepoint but being water resistant makes it a better contender to vs other tabelts if you have need for water resistance. wonder why tom's didn't incluse that info, seems a pretty big selling point
