Despite Previous Controversy, The War Z Returns to Steam
The War Z is back on Steam.
Last December, Hammerpoint Interactive's zombie survival MMO The War Z (not to be confused with Bohemia Interactive's zombie survival mod turned standalone game DayZ) was pulled from Steam just a day after its store page went live. Users who purchased the game immediately felt buyer's remorse after discovering various discrepancies between the actual game and the product description provided on the store page and levied complaints against the game. After a brief investigation, Valve saw fit to pull the game from Steam.
Now, The War Z has made a re-appearance on Steam with a short explanation from Valve. "The War Z is now available for purchase on Steam," reads the announcement. "Valve and Hammerpoint Interactive collaborated to address community feedback, update the Steam store page, and make the title available for purchase worldwide. In addition, a patch has been released to update existing customers. As such, the special refund offering extended for The War Z Steam customers who previously purchased the title has concluded."
The issues that The War Z purchasers had with the game have been pulled. The original offending descriptions that caused the game's removal in the first place have been altered, including claims such as "Each world has areas between 100 to 400 square kilometers."
Despite the changes, Steam users still aren't satisfied. There have been quite a few topics posted on The War Z Steam discussions area complaining about the game, including another petition to remove further claims of "false advertising."

Well, it is a zombie game
Greedy developers, I bet nothing has changed.
Greedy developers, I bet nothing has changed.
They would fit in well.
This is quite true. However, in the case of this game the whining is completely justified.
No probably sue them them instead. EA doesn't like competition.
1 Just wish it really has all it claims
2 A much larger world that requires survival skills more than death-match skills.
3 Optional / configurable Survivor NPCs on the servers - most friendly, some unfriendly.
Just personal hopes.
Well, it is a zombie game
Do you really beleve they changed anything to match the claims they had when they first released it? What if gearbox re leased another version of aliens:CM and promised that they fixed all the problems. Would you rebuy it? The issues with war z was they basically re leased a paid version of the alpha and expected people to be ok with it.
That's not buyer's remorse, it's false advertising. Buyer's remorse is if you feel bad for buying something just because bought it not because you received less than what was advertised.
Sounds like all the devs really did was change the description instead of completing the game. Looks like they get a second chance to screw it up.
WarZ was going to make this much more arcade friendly, like BF3 zombie game. Unfortunately they completely LIED with the product description. This wasnt buyers remorse, this was a scam. They advertises maps between 100-400 sqkm, and only ONE MAP had something like 120 km. The dev's had the balls to actually say "well technically 120 is between 100-400 so we didnt lie" lol wtf seriously?
Really? Like CoD, MoH and BF all copied each other? Coming up with a concept first is not a guarantee of worthwhile execution.
