Tom's Guide: 20 Windows 8 App You Can Try Now

By - Source: Tom's Guide US

Check out Tom's Guide's newest article on Windows 8 apps.

Windows 8 isn't due out until next month but, chances are, if you're reading Tom's Hardware, you've installed one of the preview versions. If this is the case, you've probably been poking around the OS and discovering the ins and outs of Windows 8 for a while now. The Tom's Guide team has put together a list of 20 applications that can be downloaded from the Windows 8 app store now and used with early versions of the OS. Don't wait until the official launch before getting stuck in! Check out '20 Windows 8 Apps You Download Right Now' over on Tom's Guide.

Windows 8 will enjoy general availability October 26, 2012 but enterprising users can download test versions of the OS from Microsoft's website and try it for free. Here are 20 apps you can already use with these so-called "preview" versions. They should also work with the final edition of Windows 8. Unless Microsoft significantly changes the underlying operation and structure of Windows 8, which is quite improbable.

There are millions of programs you can download for Windows and have been able to download for some years. Can we please not regress?

HA HA... App 1 = Tom's Hardware + Tom's Guide ... Shame on you. Then it lists 19 other restyled web pages.

I believe she missed "RT" bit next to W8.
On the other hand, there are millions of programs, but not many apps (yet) ;)

Applications /programs. It still smacks of dumbing down and only getting people to download from their "approved list" store. The whole internet is my store. Can see no reason to "side"grade to win8 from win7.

I don't do app stores. Especially not bad ones like the win store. Well... unless you can call steam an app store....

Not for me , I have all the programs that I want. I imagine that this will appeal to youngsters who don't have to pay the bills.
