Amazon Offering Game and Software Downloads in UK

Amazon customers in the United Kingdom are finally getting what U.S. Amazon customers have had for years: digital game and software downloads for PC and Mac. Amazon started offering game downloads in 2009, adding Mac software downloads a couple of years later, in 2011. Now the company is offering the same to customers in the UK.

"Customers buying software and video games who want their products quickly can now download these products straight to their computer with the click of a button," said Xavier Garambois, Vice-President, European Consumer Business at Amazon EU S.à.r.l. "Not only is this exciting for everyday purchases but for major upcoming releases, Amazon customers will be able to get their hands on products without waiting for them to arrive in the post."

Customers will be able to download both paid and free games as well as buy in-game content and have them instantly available in game. There's also other popular software products like Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Norton, Kaspersky, Sage, and Rosetta Stone. All software and video game downloads are stored for free in the customer's own digital library (dubbed 'Your Games & Software Library'), and can be redownloaded at any time. Customers will also be able to place pre-orders and buy product keys for other services (like Xbox Live and EA's Origin).

Brilliant! I was thinking that they should do this just yesterday when looking at the prices of BF3 DLC :)
