Archos Reveals New Android And Windows Tablets, Phones

Cesium 40

Just weeks before IFA 2014 takes place next month, Archos has revealed (pdf) a number of new products that will be showcased during the event. These include Android- and Windows-based phones and tablets.

For starters, Archos plans to release the 40 Cesium smartphone, powered by Windows Phone 8.1 and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor. This phone will be made available in September, sporting a 4-inch screen and a choice of three cases: yellow, blue and black. The device will be sold for a mere $99.

Cesium 80

Next we have the 80 Cesium tablet, packing an 8-inch IPS screen with a 1280 x 800 resolution and an Intel quad-core processor. Available in October for $149, this device will have Windows 8.1, although we suspect it may be the Bing version, based on the price.

101 Oxygen

The company will also showcase the 101 Oxygen Android tablet. A short list of specifications include an ARM Cortex-A17 quad-core processor, 1.5 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage and presumably a 10.1-inch screen with a Full HD 1080p resolution. This tablet will be made available in October for $249.

Finally, we have the 50b Platinum smartphone, which is based on Android 4.4 "KitKat." This device will include a 5-inch IPS display powered by a quad-core processor. There will also be dual SIM support, an 8MP camera on the back (with auto-focus), a 2MP camera on the front and a pre-installed 8 GB microSD card. The 50b Platinum will be available in September for $149.

45c Platinum

The company also plans to release a smaller version of the 50b Platinum called the 45c Platinum, which will sell for $129 starting in September.

In addition to these devices, Archos will also showcase Weather Station that connects to iOS and Android devices to provide temperature, humidity, air quality, noise and atmospheric pressure. There's also the Archos Music Light, a lamp that can stream music via a Bluetooth connection and the Archos Music Beany, a Bluetooth wearable device that combines a beany with headphones.

Detailed specs regarding the phones and tablets haven't been provided, but we expect to see more info about the hardware during the show.

Their product in Android are very far from Ferrari, but may be they can better manage the WP OS, in my opinion, more reliable than Android.
