San Antonio (TX) - AT&T has unveiled a new website that lets parents control access to phone calls, Internet access and television. The new "Smart Limits" website consolidates parental controls and comes from the company's acquisition of BellSouth and merger with Cingular Wireless.
Some of the more interesting controls are Wireless Smart which restricts mobile phone access and how much airtime can be purchased. Another tool, Surf Smart, lets parents block websites with mature content.
The company hopes the new portal site will simply parental access controls. AT&T says that 84 percent of its customers think parental controls are "extremely or very important" and one-third of those customers don't believe they know enough to use parental control tools.
