China To Be First In Internet Usage In 2008
Beijing (China) - China will have the world's largest base of Internet users in 2008, according to a new study by the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC). The government-backed organization says the country had 210 million web surfers at the end of 2007 and will surpass the United States sometime in early 2008.
The largest increase in Internet users is coming from rural areas where the CNNIC claims an impressive 127.7 percent (52.6 million more people) increase in users from 2006 to 2007.
