Crysis 2 $150 Nano Edition Detailed in Video
We saw glimpses of a Crysis 2 special edition earlier on, and now it's official.
UPDATE: There's a teaser video out now promoting the Limited and Nano Editions. Check it out below:
Electronic Arts and Crytek have announced two special editions for Crysis 2 – the Crysis 2 Limited Edition and the Crysis 2 Nano Edition. Both editions feature premium packaging and special unlocks in the Crysis 2 multiplayer game. The Crysis 2 Limited Edition will be available for no additional cost, while supplies last, and features four must-have in-game unlocks for the ultimate multiplayer experience.
- Bonus XP – Players will jump into multiplayer battles with an edge by starting with enough experience points to gain early access to all 5 preset class load-outs.
- SCAR Hologram Decoy – This special attachment to the SCAR will project a hologram image of the player, allowing them to confuse their opponents with the decoy.
- SCAR Weapon Skin – This digital camouflage skin will allow players to add a personalized touch to one of the more popular assault rifles in the game.
- Platinum Dog Tag – This special one-of-a-kind dog tag is one of over 250 that will be collectible in Crysis 2 multiplayer, helping to separate you from the rest of the field.
The Crysis 2 Nano Edition is designed for the ultimate Crysis fan and will include the Limited Edition housed in a steel case plus an 11” / 28 cm statue of the game’s hero “Prophet” on top of a New York taxi cab, a high-quality art book, all packaged inside a backpack modeled after the Nanosuit itself. Not available in stores, the Nano Edition is available in "extremely limited quantities" via pre-order only for $149.99 / £119.99 / €129.99. Crytek hasn't announced where you can pre-order online yet, but we're guessing it'll be through the EA Store.
EA and Crytek also announced a closed multiplayer beta for Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system starting this fall.

If I was a kid again, that would be awesome. It still is awesome I just wouldn't wear one now (33).
That is not a SCAR...
but Crysis is not a memorable enough franchise yet to be spending that kind of dough on IMO.
Backpack looks cool, but I don't think any of this is worth $150. Maybe if it was StarCraft stuff
That is not a SCAR...
Yep. Looks more like an H&K G36.
The real question is.....
BUT can it hold books???????
i read the exact same news here on tom's about a month ago
$150
For a game
Just digest that for a moment
...
Nope, can't justify it
I don't know... $150... maybe if it was $80...
I don't know... $150... maybe if it was $80...
Nah, it's still a game... maybe if it was $3.50
Gay!
Crysis 2 : War of the Holograms.
I think I'd feel better unlocking the stuff myself, unless that statue is made of expensive resin.
I won't have enough money anyway, so there is no point for me.

Not even if it was made from solid diamond, platinum plated and personally signed by Leonardo Da Vinci in radioactive gold dust.
Yep. Looks more like an H&K G36.
Since they had to pay for the design rights, they just made up their own weapon. This weapon doesnt really exist in reality but has the features of a SCAR.

Anyone remember Steel Battalion?
This reads too much like a press release. "EA and Crytek also announced a closed multiplayer beta for Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system starting this fall." Xbox 360(R) videogame and entertainment systems? Really?
Real people call it an Xbox. Professional people call it an Xbox 360. What an oddly super-formal choice of words.
Even though it wasn't noted...I would bet that none of these editions will be available for the PC *maybe the Limited*...leaving us shafted and still paying $60 for the game.
lol what kind of an idiot would buy this? Basement nerds dont need backbacks.
Im having dejavu, waasnt this announced a while ago?
The real question would be can it hold the laptop that will play the game.

You guys are vaguely remembering this:
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/c [...] 10851.html
The news wasn't official back then. This update is fresh from EA at GamesCom. Also, at the time, the information based on the leak had the price at $200. now the official announcement puts it at $150.
On PS3? That is going to either look horrible or play horrible. Either way it will be better on PC.
$150 for a game.. No way! If I wanted trinkets, I would go to a toy store and buy them for $25.
So they have special features in the more expensive versions that will give you a competitive advantage over other players (additional starting XP presumably for every time you play, etc). That is lame, you shouldn't have to pay additional money just to compete. Bad precedent here.
Umm.. no I just want the game. kthxby
This is all nice... But...
I just can't seem to get excited over special editions, with Call of Duty Modren Warfare 2's Night Vision Goggles...
Even thought the game was not the best, the goggles looked awesome.
I heard the 150M dollar copies come with the Nano suit. Suit > Backpack
$150For a gameJust digest that for a moment...Nope, can't justify it
60 for a game, 90 for accessories. I can't justify it either, but if you're a fan of the game... you won't care.
i agree with thearm, cool for a kid, but aren't you supposed to be 18 to play crysis anyway???....
The PC Collectors Edition should drop all the silly little kids stuff and instead come with graphix card capable of playing Crysis 2. So instead of a card bundled with a game its a game bundled with a card!
why the hell, is there not a thousand things that are more fitting than a god damn ugly backpack (that only a child could wear without ridicule) to include in a limited edition?
I thought we were playing as Nomad still, when did it get announced that it is Prophet?
