Falling Global Demand For CD-R Discs Lessens Willingness To Renew Licensing Among Taiwan OEM Makers

While Royal Philips Electronics is still negotiating renewals of its Veeza patent licensing with leading Taiwan-based makers of blank CD-R discs, the makers have become more reluctant to accept the licensing terms due to decreasing global demand for CD-R discs, according to industry sources in Taiwan. Leading makers include CMC Magnetics, Ritek and Prodisc Technology, the sources noted.
