Google Maps the Top Gear Test Track with The Stig in Tow
Now you can take a trip around Top Gear's famous track without setting foot outside the house.
Google's Street View car may not be as fun or exciting as the other contraptions the search giant uses to capture the hard-to-reach corners of our fair planet, but the vehicle still gets to go to some pretty cool places. The latest was Top Gear's Test Track.
Of course, Google could have just driven the car around the track and called it a day, but that wouldn't be any fun, would it? Instead, The Stig dropped by to lend his own personal touch to the photos, joining the Google Street View car on its jaunt around the track in the driver's seat of a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black. It's not a race, exactly, but The Stig manages to run rings around the Google car nonetheless. Check out the video below or hit up Street View to see the resulting photos.
This isn't the first time The Stig has been on Google Street View. The famous racer showed up on Street View in 2010 near Loch Ness. Google has also mapped Diagon Alley from inside the Harry Potter Studio in London as well as the penguins in Antarctica, Britain's impressive network of canals, and London's River Thames, among others.-

Some say...
I don't enjoy this show much... it has wonderful J. Clarkson but I think it is over scripted and over directed.
It's just another fake show where everything is scripted even bloody racetrack events.
Dishonest and cautious reviews. Background for reviews is always amazing superbly shot and directed video
just reinforcing feeling that I am watching advertisement not a car review.
If I want to watch fake driving and cinematic car shots I'd go to Hollywood movie.
Just look at famous Test track videos... even if it takes from 3 minutes to like 1 for super cars mr. Stig is driving they never ever show driver doing actual lap as whole. Further more this corners aren't even from the same lap.
It's a selection of the ones that looked good for camera. It is especially ridiculous for Stig laps where he's doing the track so fast. Yet again they would show 50 seconds picking corners out of whole shooting session instead showing real thing that took him 80 seconds :S
I don't know why they do that ... maybe they have like 2 cameras total. IMHO It takes away a lot.
I understand that watching F1 for 3 hours can be freaking boring for average TV viewer... but several minute footage of real driving ? on a car show? Why is this a No No. It has to look like in fast and furious. Burnout! Corner, corner screeching tires! bam! smoking drift through corner! constant sound of going from 7-9 k gearing up after brief moment we are on tenth gear and guy didn't push break once. For God's sake.
That is the whole point of The Stig.

Sorry I've edited that out before I saw your reply. Well obviously... but why they even started the whole mysterious persona act in the first place. When everyone knows it's not a one guy. Really clever people host this show yet producers deliberately treat viewer like a lobotomised chimp.

Viewers in the UK know a thing or two about humour and lots of countries that also watch TG know not to take it seriously, so why are you taking it so seriously?

Well yeah... it's not serious but it sounds serious and it isn't funny a single bit. Quite a stretch here. I'd rather stay by the chimp thing. It's what they do in this show on general basis, and in many other shows for that matter. Just look what happened to discovery chanel over last 10 years.
Well it is amusing.
Instead showcasing car performance and making reviews.
They showcase camera work and make advertisements.
Instead showing professional driver spinning car to it's maximum on test track.
They show Hollywood director's depiction of racing on a test track.
Whenever they show seemingly spontaneous event on the track or on location,
it's actually painfully obvious every point and word is scripted.
Truly amazing.
P.S. you can assume I like everything I did not mention like a couch talk about cars and other good things.

Yeah it is a shame when entertainment programs are made properly isn't it? Why don't you make a better programme and sell it to the BBC for a ton of cash then? Then we can all benefit from your expertise in how things should be done.

I don't feel like it would make ton of cash... TG makes ton of cash because how it is.
Because it's so watch-able, flashy and easy I guess that's what people want to watch.
Show priorities are entertainment first, advertising second, personalities third and cars aren't even on a podium.
I just feel like it could be more about cars than just another big TV Show but with cars.
Don't get me wrong it is good entertainment.
