I-O Data's New HDDs Boast Sleek Brushed Aluminum
I-O Data's new external hard drives are pretty.
Manufacturer I-O Data has announced a new line of portable hard drives with a sleek, polished exterior. The cryptically named HDPX-UTA drives are 2.5-inch USB 3.0-based hard drives with brushed aluminum enclosures.
These drives are particularly compact for 2.5-inch drives, measuring in at just 114 x 76 x 12 mm, making them extremely portable. They also weigh just 170 grams. The silver version also also has support for Apple's Time Machine in case you want to use it as a backup drive.
The drives will be available in silver and black and each will come with capacities ranging from 500 GB to 2 TB. The drives will be available in Japan for prices ranging from 10,600 yen to 21,500 yen, with no official word on US availability. We've emailed I-O Data for more information and we'll let you know when we hear back.
