GTX260 for $140, Super-overclockable super-cool HD5770 for $140...reference HD5770 for $130...

The GTX260 and the 5770 have on-par performance, and the GTX will overclock just fine...

Awesome, the gtx260 is almost as cheap as a brand new game! (if you compare to ripoff game stores)

Yeah it expired June 5th if you look closely...nice joke Tom's and it actually takes you to Dell's website to place the order if you click "get deal"...odd. This ad looks just as scammish as most of the PC related listings on Ebay...got to watch yourself there also...if you don't know your stuff you will get pwned in the wallet.

I already have 2 GTX 260 C216s. My PSU can't handle another or electric bill.

Also, cards with the power of a 5770/260 should be at the 100 dollar range by this point [again, following the chart I made up based on "best graphics card for the money" articles and my own newegg cart.]

Actually, that's awesome.
5770 to pump out my triple monitor goodness, and the GTX 260 for PhysX.
Too bad I stopped spending on my rig...

A few lucky people were able to get a GTX 480 for $365 using the same coupon code.

How is that lucky? They bought a GTX480 and are in for a big surprise. I guess if they live in a cold environment, they got a double bonus in a video card and a space heater.

Not really. Even Call Of Duty is "only" $90-100 if you factor in DLCs. Now I don't condone these high prices, and would MUCH prefer it if DLCs were actually a decent value @ $5 and more maps/features and games themselves stuck around $50 instead of jumping to $60.

In my situation, I would LOVE to have a computer that pumped out lots of heat. In the winter it would probably raise the temperature by one or two Celsius, enough to make it comfortable in the room. Sometimes I still feel cold.

I have usually preferred Nvidia over ATI until Nvidia gets the fry an egg on my GPU fixed. If I was going to get a new card right now I would have to go back to ATI and this 5870 card for $389.99

Always try and build a rig that has performance without over the top prices.

Gtx 260 - poor man's card.... When you all grow up you can get a 5970 and 2560 x 1600 res and game like it should be seen.

Considering GPUs have been able to do 2560 x 1600 for a while now, you don't need to buy that card.

On another note, until games start supporting DX11, you won't see that much of a jump in performance yet. Just like how ATI went with DX10.1, and saw very little gains across the board. Granted now that both camps are DX11 ready, it is now up to developers to utilize it.

The 4 series does have the performance crown, but it comes down to power consumption and heat generation. I have heard that the 470s aren't that bad with temps, and in a properly cooled room it will stay in the 70s under load. However, if you are undecided in which card to buy, go with the 5850 as I would wait until a 4 series die shrink before buying one. Hopefully that will bring the temps down a good bit, and it will be cheaper to buy an easy bake oven.

that was my thinking soon....but now i'm think gtx470 probably has good overclocking room since it's gtx480 with disabled components. uses less power than gtx 480 and is considerably cheaper right now.

the seller is out of stock on most 5850's too but they said they come in often.

they might be able to do it but not with all the eye candy on like I like it. 8xAA 16x AF full throttle. Let's see a $150 card get 60 - 80 fps with all that on. Battlefield bc2 I can see a big difference from dx10 to 11 btw.

i'm going dx11...it's just figuring out which one...it's all hypothetical because i only have press articles to go with. will probably come down to card length. measuring space in my case tonight. i added 2 more hd's and space is tight behind the card i have now which is the 8800gts g92

Yeah a $150 GPU probably won't do that. Then again if you don't have enough money for a dual GPU config, you also don't have enough money for a monitor to use it on.

As I stated before, you will not see a jump in DX 11 unless it is supported. BC2 is one of the 6 currently released games that support it, and there have only been a reported 7 more games that won't be out until the end of this year. Again, not a lot of games out there support DX11, and by the time a huge catalog of them do, ATI/Nvidia may even have revisions of their cards out.

gtx 260 > *
if I buy this I could finally SLI. Too bad Valve doesn't use SLI. So I could very well pass. I don't play any games that aren't source engine usually. I get 200fps in HL2DM so I guess I'm doing alright.
This is the card to get if you are smart and want to save money and also want to be able to game well.
