Motorola: No Moto X for the United Kingdom

By - Source: TechRadar | B 10 comments

Motorola promises it has other exciting devices for Europe.

Motorola finally put us all out of our misery and confirmed and detailed the much talked about Moto X. Unfortunately, it seems that the Moto X is a device that won't be coming to the United Kingdom. Speaking to TechRadar, Motorola revealed that while it has exciting plans for Europe, the Moto X isn't among them.

"We are firmly committed to building a portfolio of products in Europe that show the best of Motorola as a Google company, but at this time don't have any immediate plans for Moto X to come to the region," a spokesperson is quoted as saying, adding, "Europe remains an important market for us and we have exciting plans in the works. Although we can't reveal specifics right now, this is just the start."

The new Moto X uses the "Motorola X8 Mobile Computing System," which consists of a software-optimized Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro dual-core SoC clocked at 1.7 GHz, a natural language processor, and a contextual computing processor. Backing this system is 2 GB of RAM and a 2200mAh battery promising up to 13 hours talk time and up to 24 hours mixed usage time. The phone also features a 4.7 inch AMOLED 720p screen, a 10MP Clear Pixel camera capable of 1080p recording at 30fps, up to 32 GB of internal storage, dual-band wireless AC and Bluetooth 4.0 + EDR connectivity, and location services consisting of aGPS (assisted), AGPS (autonomous), sGPS (simultaneous), Standalone GPS, eCompass and GLONASS. The whole show is running on Android 4.2.2 "Jelly Bean" although given Google owns Motorola, we imagine it won't be too long before the phone is updated to v4.3.

The device is set for U.S., Canadian and Latin American availability will be available in the U.S., Canada and Latin America starting in late August/early September.

So.... no Moto X in Europe? Ballsy move, let's see what they'll do instead.

This can only be due to the laws. There is no other reason I can think of why they would neglect such a big market. I wonder what the story is.

can't you buy a padfone in the uk... why bother with this then? it has almost the same specs as a samsung galaxy nexus that was released a etyar ago with a slightly biggr battey, .05" more screen, and more ram, all nice thigns but not impressive hardware for a flagship device. I have heard good thigns about the user interface and once i get to play with one i might reconsider my thoughts on it, but from a hardware perspective this is not a gamechanger... or a contender
