MSI Reveals GeForce GTX 660 Gaming Series Graphics Cards
MSI has announced two new Gaming-series GTX 660 graphics cards for some extra competition.
MSI has announced two new graphics cards, both part of the Gaming series of cards. While the cards 'may' only be GTX 660 cards with the last-generation's hardware, the idea is that they will put some extra options in the sub-$200 segment.
The cards are based on the GTX 660 design of which the GPUs carry 960 CUDA cores, 80 TMUs, 24 ROPs, as well as 2 GB of GDDR5 memory that runs over a 192-bit memory interface. One of the cards is an overclocked variant that features clock speeds of 1033 MHz core and 1098 MHz boost. The other is a card that runs at reference speeds, running at 980 MHz base and 1033 MHz boost. They will be known as the 'Lite' edition and the 'OC' edition. Both of the cards feature the Twin Frozr IV cooler with the red 'Gaming' series design.
MSI gave no word on availability or pricing, however, as mentioned, the cards will be competitively priced.

Btw, does anyone else's GTX 660 absolutely refuse to use more than 1536MB of VRAM without stuttering like mad? Must be the result of dropping to single-memory-controller-bandwidth.
My same question. The 700s have launched and are readily available. The 7870 is available at this same price range, as is a 7950 on sale, and the 760 around $250 is much better. Why go for 192-bit memory when you can get 256 and 384 for similar price? Aside from the guy who needs the best CUDA card for video and moderate gaming under $200, I don't see this selling well.
But why would you want a 7950? Next you're going to tell me to get AMD instead of Intel because it's cheaper...
