Rambus said it has signed a patent license agreement with NEC Electronics that allows the development and manufacture of memory controllers based on DDR2 technology as well as "future" Rambus developments.

According to Rambus, the agreement is limited to a time frame of five years, but includes the possibility of renewal or extension. The license's scope covers memory controllers compatible with SDR, DDR and DDR2 SDRAM at this time. Rambus will receive royalties on NEC sales of licensed products. (THG)
