Watch the Portal 2 Trailer and Real Gameplay

by - source: Tom's Hardware US

She's back.

Gabe Newell shared Sony's stage at the PlayStation press conference yesterday that Portal 2 will be Valve's first in-house PlayStation 3 project and that it'll have the "best version of Portal 2 for console," basically already ruling the Xbox 360 version as sub-par.

The reason for this is that the openness of the PlayStation 3 has allowed Valve to integrate Portal 2 for PS3 with Steamworks, which means "auto updates, community features, downloadable content, and more."

Regardless of which platform you'll be playing it on, Portal 2 should be great. Check the new trailer and gameplay demo (from IGN) below.

Looks a lot better than Portal ever did! Funnier than Portal too. To say I'm excited would be an understatement.

Can't wait!!!

Animation looks on par with a Dreamworks movie. Lighting looks INSANE.

Cant wait to play this. Preferably on PC. But I have to say, it looks like Valve finally leveled up their PS3 skill. :P

Holy crap! Portal 2 looks even more amazing than I would have thought! Valve never disappoints (excluding EP3).

So... was this the big announcement?
Did someone assume there wouldn't be a PS3 version?

Im kinda pissed actually. How much you want to bet that this is the reason Portal 2 got pushed back. So they could make a ps3 version. I dont want to wait for the pc version, just so they could make a craptastic ps3 version.

I would assume this is their big announcement, And actually they haven't made anything for ps3. "Valve's first in-house PlayStation 3 project"

Goldeknob :
doesn't the xbox beat the ps3 in all these aspects?

Probably the "openness" they are referring to has less to do with hardware technology and more to do with the policies and marketing tactics of Sony vs. MS. In other words, Steamworks is seen as competition for XBox Live so MS said no.

Anybody else scared by this "Big surprise"?
Our big surprise: We are finally going to sell-out too.
Valve was one of the ONLY developers still pushing PC games to new levels.
This looks like the beginning of the end for true PC games.
I foresee console ports from now on....
R.I.P. Valve, its only a matter of time before EA, or Activision owns you now.
Whats next CS:S2 with no dedicated servers?

P.S. -Portal 2 looks to be amazing though...genius is still genius even if its misdirected. (Just to be hypocritical :) )

Another crappy console port = shitty controls and substandard PC gameplay. Thanks Valve. I admired that you were a pc developer but I don't hold it against you that consoles are where the money is at.

Calm down everyone, I'm sure Gabe hasn't been overseeing the new engine to have it hobbled by the limitations of today's consoles. Portal 2 and HL3 will set new standards (again). I have every faith in this judging by the trailers. BRING IT ON! (when it's ready of course) :)

Why did my comment get voted down? I thought I was doing a favor to all those who haven't realized what part of the surprise is.
