Prince Says ''The Internet's Completely Over''
Time to pack it up, boys and girls.

Prince, and at one point, the Artist Formerly Known as Prince, is one of the greatest musical artists of our time. In fact, he was ranked at 28th in Rolling Stones' list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
This immensely talented man doesn't have much love for the internet, computers or other digital gadgets, though.
In an interview with UK paper the Mirror, which he is doing an album promotion with, Prince said that his new album will be released only on CD – no internet downloads through iTunes, Amazon, or any other form digital distribution, direct or not.
Prince is even against having his music play on YouTube and he has even shut down his official website. The artist explains that he doesn’t see any future in the internet.
"The internet's completely over. I don't see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won't pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can't get it.
"The internet's like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated. Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good.
"They just fill your head with numbers and that can't be good for you."

He should change his name again...to Dunce.
Crack is hell of a drug.
He sounds like my Grandpa.....
fixed it.
Well, if Prince says it, it must be true...
I guess I'll just go home and pack up anything that connects to the internet and see if anyone wants it...
The novelty of the internet may have waned, but it's not going anywhere either. It's not as exciting as it was a decade ago, but it's here to stay.
Well.... aS far as i know MTV always sucked, except the time for Jon Stewart...
Well, I do agree with 'him' on one topic:
MTV used to be MUSIC TeleViosn, and actually played videos! This "Reality" programming is just cr@p. As bad a E!
Mate, before you know it, your music will be on a torrent site, try to control that!
I'm surprised that he didn't put his music back on cassette tapes.
Fear not! 4chan will hack his... oh wait.
Well, Prince might be slightly strange some times, but you can't really argue with his success.
I think what he said is out of context. I think he was saying, "Music on the Internet is over. I can't find a way to get paid, so I'm out."
I loathe celberty types, their money makes them stupid.
The only thing filling up your head Prince is your own ignorance.
I remember MTV used to be hip back in the day, as well as Prince. Both of your days are over but we still remember you, don't give people a reason not to. You weren't no Michael Jackson, The Beatles, or Neil Diamond buddy.
"They won't pay me an advance for it"
My job does not pay me in advance for my work. Why should he get paid in advance for music that is probably going to sound like garbage anyway?
You make money in life in order to survive to make more money.
I love tis article, thanks for the giggle..
Poor prince, he was never really with it in any case!!!
Didn't like Princess when he was popular and i don't like him now! He wasn't getting my money either way...
To be perfectly honest, I never thought he was that great to begin with. He reminds me a lot of Michael Jackson (only shorter, not as successful and still alive) in that he lives in his own world. Kevin Smith (Silent Bob) used to be a really big fan until he visited Prince's house and got totally snubbed by the a-hole. There's a concert he did at a college a while back where he goes into detail about it. The guy (Prince) has his whole house wired for sound so he can do production in any room in the house (including the bathroom). But it also gives him the ability to listen in on any room in the house. He has a vault filled will fully produced music videos that he has never shown anyone (Smith jokes, "Why, so if everything shuts down we'll still have entertainment?"). Anyway, you listen to Smith recount his visit and you are left with the undeniable conclusion that Prince is a really wierd dude.
As for the Internet... I'll wager everything I own that it will be around long after his music is completely forgotten.
Crack is hell of a drug.
You forgot the psycho chuckle. huehuehuehehehehehahahahahhaha.
Let's see here.... a "has-been" calling the new world "over."
Oooooo-kay!
that is e ugliest guitar ive ever seen. an well, Prince has been over for a long time now....

To add onto that, when Prince checks into hotels and such, it is almost like the president, but worse. He has to have the lobbies cleared, no one else can be on the same floor as him, the windows in his room are covered with a black plastic bag or cloth, he always has a group of guys circled around him so no one can see him, and he hates getting visits/autograph requests from fans. The dude is really paranoid, which probably adds on to his hate of the internet because information is so easily shared.
Let's see here... a "has-been washed up artist previously known as Prince" calling the Internet and digital "over."
Oooooo-Kay! He is obviously delusional and a danger to society and should be institutionalized in a rubber room with a straight jacket so we can finally move on.
I agree. Prince and other showman alike have their music show way too complex for properly enjoying with ear-bud headsets.
The truth is Internet is ahead of Prince's time and he simply can't adapt.
The bad thing that it'll take to have him dead for us to miss his outdoor concerts.
He's... Prince, the Artist formely known as Prince, o;-> (Love Symbol)... He has a tape buried somewhere that people will listen to in 80+ years
Simply put, he's a megalomaniac; he's disconnected from reality, thus he can't realize what the Intarwebz is about: communication. If he did, that may shatter his homocentric vision of the world.
Which also means that, yes, his CD will sell to his fan base, someone will rip+torrent it, it'll be classified as Utter Crap and forgotten.
If he really wanted his 'perfect' music 'perfectly' heard, he wouldn't go the CD way: he'd go modern vinyl (which, with static-free heads, has better resolution than the CD, especially now with how studios saturate them), or DTS on a music DVD.
ahhh Prince
he can make music but damn is he arrogant
I was expecting an Arabic prince but this isn't shocking either
He is only releasing his music on CDs??? wow he is living in the 90s. let me help him with his quote. "At one time CDs were hip and suddenly it became outdated." I guess he is trying to relive his good ol'days
lol he does not see any future in the internet
well if prince says the internet will die guess its time to sell my pc... anybody interested?
AM64 at 2.8 , 2gig ram on a micro atx asus and a 8400gt graphics card... nobody .. come on my system specs are more in date than prince's music/views on digital distribution ... which isn't saying much x.x
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL...This guy speaks the truth.*Sarcasim*
The internet is barely maturing.
Yes, he is so irrelevant that when he says something stupid like this, it goes all over the internet and everyone feels a need to comment about it.
I conclude, he actually IS still relevant, but everyone agrees that he could not be more wrong about the internet.
I don't particularly care for his music either, but the guy does also produce a lot of other acts as well. So he's definitely relevant.
