Report: AMD Radeon R9 270X Features Tahiti LE Core

According to a post from Overclockers UK staff member "Gibbo," AMD's upcoming mid-range R9 270X graphics card will include a revised version of the "Tahiti LE" core that he describes as a "crippled HD 7950" with 2 GB of memory over a 256-bit memory bus.

Though technical specifications aren't publicly available yet, the presence of "Tahiti LE" core suggests that the graphics card will feature between 1,536 (HD 7870 LE) and 1,792 shader units and that the GPU may be clocked at between 800 MHz (HD 7950) and 975 MHz (HD 7870 LE).

The Radeon R9 270X has been priced at $199 and is expected to arrive on retail shelves in October.

I just had enough with this re-branding business. if you don't have a entirely new product line-up to sell, then just introduce that one or two new products that you have. stop throwing your old stuffs in and re-branding them to confuse your customers. That applies to you, too. Nvidia

seems pointless when a HD7950 can be had for $199 or less. Would make more sense if it was =>HD7950
