Razer's 14-inch Blade Goes Up for Pre-order
Razer is kicking off pre-orders for its latest gaming laptop.
There's no shortage of new hardware this week, thanks to Computex 2013. Even Razer is contributing. The company this week announced that its 14-inch gaming laptop, the Razer Blade, is now up for pre-order.
Unveiled on Friday, the Blade packs a quad-core Intel Core i7-4702HQ 2.2 GHz / 3.2 GHz (base/turbo) with Hyper Threading and a GeForce GTX 765M graphics. It's got a 14-inch HD+ 16:9 1600x900 display, and 8GB of on-board DDR3L-1600MHz memory. All of this is powered by a 70Wh battery and Windows 8.
"We’ve designed and built the thinnest, most powerful 14 inch laptop in the world," says Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder, CEO and creative director. "Thinner than a dime and more powerful than other traditional desktop replacements today, we’ve created an entirely new category of thin and powerful laptops that is generations ahead of other PCs."
The 14-inch Blade is available for pre-order now, with price depending on the amount of storage. Things start at $1800 for the 128 GB model. Head on over to Razerzone.com/blade for the full details.

It is like buying a Cadillac. Pay more for a car that has the same engine as a car that is nearly half the price, but hey it sure looks pretty to some people.
it's a weird decision, but for more or less a pure gaming laptop, it makes sense. why? the GTX 765M can barely play the most intensive games at those resolutions at high settings, so making it 1080p won't make much of a difference
An Ethernet port was not included because it simply cannot fit. An Ethernet port is too tall to be able to fit on the side of a laptop this thin. It does have 3 USB 3.0 ports though. If I'm gaming on a laptop I only need 1 for a mouse and maybe a second for a USB headset. That third could be used for a USB 3.0 to GbE adapter. An adapter may not be the ideal implementation but if you're using an Ethernet cable anyway then a 6" adapter won't be any more intrusive than the wire itself. It will work just as well as a native port and considering how portable this machine is I wouldn't have an issue with carrying a USB adapter in my bag alongside with my mouse and charger.
it has a much shittier screen than the rMBP, but it has better specs and is slightly thinner than the 15 inch rMBP. if you call that even, it's also $100-300 cheaper than the rMBP. so yeah, technically it's priced right (by Apple standards lol)
