Samsung-Sony joint-venture intros amorphous TFT displays
Next newsS-LCD, a South Korea-based joint venture between Samsung and Sony, announced that it started shipment of amorphous TFT displays to its parent companies. S-LCD claims it has produced and delivered the world's largest seventh generation glass substrate. LCD TVs using the panels are scheduled to enter mass production in the first half of this year.
S-LCD said it will manufacture up to 60,000 panels per month out of glass panel sizes of 1870x2200 mm. Initially, panel sizes will be limited to 26", 32", 40" and 46" devices. (THG)
