Taiwanese makers will deliver a total of 2.2 million DVD recorders this year, rising by 18 percent from 2004, including models equipped with hard disk drives (HDDs), according to the Market Intelligence Center (MIC) under the government-sponsored Institute for Information Industry (III).
The corresponding shipment value for this year is $290 million, dropping by 5% from last year due to decreasing sales prices, indicated MIC, adding that the average price for a DVD recorder was $131.
