Sony Now Selling Waterproof Xperia Z2 Android Tablet
You can pre-purchase Sony's water-resistant tablet.
Back in February, Sony introduced the Xperia Z2 tablet during Mobile World Congress 2014, boasting that it's the world's slimmest tablet to date. There were other "world's first" features too such as the Digital Noise Cancelling technology and the use of a Live Color LED display. Oh, and its water-resistant and dust-resistant as well (IP55 and IP58).
"The Xperia Z2 Tablet represents the pinnacle of tablet innovation and is a true flagship in our premium line. We have evolved our cutting-edge design to create the slimmest lightweight tablet matched with Sony's latest technologies to deliver a unique user experience," said Kunimasa Suzuki, President and CEO, Sony Mobile Communications.

According to the specs, the tablet measures just 0.25 inches thick and weighs a mere 15.49 ounces. The device also sports a 10.1 Full HD TRILUMINOS display, backed by Qualcomm's quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and 3 GB of memory. There's also an 8.1MP camera on the back and a 2.2MP camera on the front.
Offered in a 16 GB capacity, this new PlayStation-certified tablet also includes a microSD card to add up to 128 GB of additional storage, and a 6000 mAh battery promising up to 13 hours of playback time. There's also Wireless N and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, GPS, NFC, S-Force Surround Sound, and Google's Android 4.4 "KitKat."
"The Xperia Z2 Tablet offers the clearest sound quality with Sony's Front Surround audio technology that lets you enjoy dynamic sound. And now you can enjoy uninterrupted audio when you're on the move, even on noisy trains or planes, thanks to the world's first Digital Noise Cancelling technology in a tablet that reduces ambient noise by up to 98% when paired with the MDR-NC31EM Digital Noise Cancelling headset," reads the product page.

BranFlake5 Frankly, I feel this is the biggest competitor to the iPad Air. Other tablets are much more popular, but the Z1 and now this are both bleeding edge.Reply

xpeh So the 16GB model is 100 bucks cheaper, and still has the SD slot. I don't see much of a point in buying the 32GB model.Reply -
RCguitarist Is it water-proof or water-resistant? This article uses the two terms interchangeably throughout it, yet these are two completely different attributes. Waterproof is when it is 100% sealed from water getting inside. So you could drop it in a lake and find it 50ft below the surface an hour later and it would be fine. Water-resistant is if a kid squirts you with a watergun while you are holding it and it will be fine, but if you drop it into a swimming pool, it most likely will die.Reply -

well if you plan on playing/installing lots of HD games on your tablet you might want to get the 32GB model. 11GB is left to the user (at least in my z1). They don't allow you to transfer apps to sd card. So with HD games ranging from 1GB to 4GB you would be able to install a couple.
100 dollars more for 32GB is too much and is really not worth it just to be able to store more games so that you dont have to backup-restore games if you want to play it
