Blizzard Opens Writing Contest for WoW, SC, Diablo
Get your fan fiction on.
Do you lie awake at night, thinking of the armies of the Scourge, or perhaps you sleep while dreaming of the zerg Swarm, or perhaps you daydream about the Burning Hells? If so, this could be a chance for you to commit some of that into your word processor and win a trip to Blizzard.
As it did last year, Blizzard has now opened up a 2010 Global Writing Contest, where it will accept short story submissions from 2,500- to 7,500-word short story written in English and set in the Warcraft, StarCraft, or Diablo universe.
The grand prize story teller will win a trip to Blizzard's headquarters in southern California, as well as a choice of a Diablo III "OVERTHROWN" barbarian diorama or a Frostmourne sword.
The contest is open mostly worldwide, but be sure to read through the official rules before you commit your art to words.

And my country doesn't even feature in the eligible country list!:-(
i would join if there would be free diablo III cd included
Yes, had enough accessories for sale, news to dig and dreams to waste..
Bring the game, Blizzard. Now.
I would join if they gave me a release date for diablo 3
Time to unleash the pen...er, keyboard...
I got a better idea for a "Blizzard" article. How about doing one about their "real ID" crap. Like how they're going to make anyone who posts on their forum use their REAL NAME!!! It's just another step into a dicey world from when they started making everyone change their account name to their email address. Way to go Bliz.
I think you mean way to go Activision. I'm pretty sure everyone can agree anything evil coming out of that camp is the direct result of Kotick.
The story that won the 2009 contest is really impressive. Here I was thinking I'd try my hand at a story, but after reading that, I understand I'm completely outclassed here.
I looked at the rules.. yay my country's in.. just that my state's not...
" Something me doing?"
"Work! Work!"
you can write about the "real ID" issue on the blizzard forum. the offical post is over 1k in pages and growing of protesting wow players.
Unless the winner gets a pre release copy of Diablo III this is not worth it!!
So they have run out of ideas and want to play the public for ideas to take then give away a prize for taking it (after signing some legal form first), how ingenious, not.

I agree. I can't believe Tom's would bother with a non-story like this when the Real ID controversy is brewing. Seriously, an article about a write-in contest?
Probably looking for something they could blossom into another product ...or movie ...
Who wouldn't take the Frostmourne? It's worth more and you can hurt things with it.
I'd want to sell it though, but also seeing as I'm not really ever inspired by they're games, I probably won't make a story.
That, and I just don't have the attention span.
It would be nice if they could give out some GAMES. Or a lifetime free pass to play WOW, or something that would get used more than twice. I wonder if they would actually use a dope story in one of their upcomming games? Not a bad way to avoid hiring a writer for an upcomming game...
Yeah why not If only I have the time.
