Sony to Announce Xperia Z2 Next Month

Sony announced a couple of Xperia devices in Vegas last week, but it sounds like the company didn't want to empty its clip at CES. The company may have been saving the best for last as the latest rumors indicate Sony could have an Xperia Z2 for us next month.

With Mobile World Congress just around the corner, it makes sense that Sony would want to save one or two bigger announcements for Barcelona. According to AndroidSAS, Sony's Xperia Z2 will debut at Mobile World Congress in late February, boasting a 5.2-inch display with a 2560 x 1440 resolution. Other specs include a 20.7-megapixel camera, as well as a 3700 mAh battery.

The original Xperia Z (pictured above) was unveiled at CES in 2013 and is notable for its water resistant properties. Of course, the Z2 is rumored to be just as resistant to pushes in the pool as its predecessor, along with the bump in specs. The device packs a 5-inch display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution and a 13-megapixel camera. At 2330 mAh, the battery is significantly smaller than the pack rumored to power the Z2.

Mobile World Congress kicks off in Barcelona on February 24. Stay tuned for all the latest news!

I really hope the rumors of the S4 and now the Z2 having 1440p screens are false, I honestly can't see the point of going above 1080p, all they're doing is wasting battery and processing power

The difference between 720p and 1080p was fairly noticeable, doubt that will be the same for 1440. This will probably be when diminishing returns kick in. The only way i can see the pixels on the s4 is when I'm so close to the screen that it causes eye strain, pretty much only when I'm trying to see a pixel. The larger battery is a nice addition though.

hmmm... this may be my next phone then, depending on what Samsung does next. I have to agree about the resolution issue - is 1080p not enough on a small screen?

The only thing that "could" be missing would be the camera having some form of mechanical OIS, if it has that I could well be tempted to grab one right away.

I am definitely sure that this is a copy paste comment from other phone article.
