Quad-core processors will remain a solution that is primarily focused on the server. Desktop quad-cores will continue to be expensive and high-end processors with the introduction of Penryn.

The multi-chip package decision means that Intel will continue to rely on a shared front side bus architecture.
However, Penryn will ramp in production quickly to enable Intel to keep its production advantage over AMD, which is expected to complete its 65 nm transition by the end of this year and bring 45 nm processors to market in the second half of 2008. This pic
