$2,000 Car Does 56 MPG: The Tata Nano

Buying your first car involves a lot of saving and for a lot of people, a loan. While some of us are okay with public transport and walking (Dublin is one of them there walking cities), other people are stuck with barely running motors only fit for the scrap heap. Earlier this week, Tata Motors unveiled at the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower in Mumbai, India a petrol-powered four wheel vehicle that will cost 100,000 rupees, which at present time equates to $1,988.

The 2-cylinder engine delivers around 35 hp @ 5,250 RPM and a torque of 35 ft. lbs. @ 3,000 RPM and enables the car to have a top speed of 65 mph and negotiate inclines with a gradeability of 30 percent. The Tata Nano is currently being manufactured at the company's Pantnagar plant in Uttarakhand in limited numbers. The new dedicated plant, at Sanand in Gujarat, will be ready in 2010 with an annualized capacity of 350,000 cars. No word on US availability but it’s great to see cars like this being made. And who knows, with a max speed of 65 mph maybe it will become a popular pick for teenaged drivers.

This late breaking hot news story confirming the Shamwow guy is much 'hotter' than previously thought was apparently overlooked. Alien? Way.

    "Why haven't you folks updated?"

Hmmm, where to start? Clumsy layout (back and forward buttons at the LEFT of the site address!?!?!?); intrusive features like being forced to choose a "search provider"; disappearance of the visited sites history - apart from the site address drop down menu, not to mention an X on the right of the items that makes it all too easy to delete the site from the list when trying to select it; 1000 x etc. IE7 already was a step down in quality from IE6. And on my XP SP3 install the damn thing won't even let me go back to IE7 at least.

"German website Schottenland.de is currently listing a 40nm AMD Radeon HD 4750, offering details on the RV740 GPU and other specifics. This could mean we'll be seeing a refresh soon. Looks like it won't be long before desktop Radeon GPUs with 40nm processing will hit the market, and apparently it starts with the Radeon HD 4750. Im most excited about the Tesla cars. All the major manufactrurers should get on the bandwagon, Gasoline is an outdated and inefficient technology.

( I still want to buy a real sports and muscle car in the future though, do dont go banning gas yet)
