Most of us will never need these little devices, but there are situations where a USB 3.0 to VGA, DVI or HDMI adapter is useful – at kiosks, for example. Up until now these devices only supported rather limited resolutions, but Club3D, a Dutch manufacturer, just announced its new CXV-2302.
This adapter is a plug-and-play certified USB 3.0 to DisplayPort 1.2 adapter. This adapter doesn’t have enough bandwidth to push 4K at 60 Hz, but it will do 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz. For kiosks or general purpose systems 30 Hz is more than enough, not that we expect to see kiosks with 4K displays anytime soon.
You’ll also be able to drive lower resolution displays with the adapter.
No word on pricing or availability yet, but we’ll let you know when we hear back from Club3D.
