DataWind's 7-inch UbiSlate to Launch in UK Priced At £30
By , - Source: via Engadget

The UK has no shortage of cheap tablets on sale right now, but nothing can match the price of the UbiSlate, which is priced at just £30. Packing a 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor, 512 MB of RAM, a 7-inch 800 x 480 pixel display, 4 GB of storage, WiFi, and Ice Cream Sandwich, the UbiSlate 7Ci is the consumer version of the Aakash 2, an educational tablet that went on sale in India for $40 in early 2012. Now it's hitting the UK with a price tag of £29.99.

The device is fairly low on the totem pole in terms of hardware specifications, but the price is perfect for younger gadget fans and those looking for a cheap device as their first tablet. If you're looking to beef up the specs a bit, DataWind is also offering the UbiSlate 7C+, which adds 850/900/1800/1900 GPRS EDGE and 'free Internet' for a year. It's priced at £69.99. If EDGE connectivity doesn't do it for you, you can get 3G speeds (and free connection for a year) for £129.99 with the UbiSlate 3G7.

DataWind hasn't yet specified a release date, but we'll keep you posted.
