We've already seen what's going on under the hood with the iPhone 5S, but what about its more colorful baby brother, the iPhone 5C? Once iFixit got done tearing the iPhone 5S apart, the company turned its attention to the iPhone 5C. Introduced at the same time as the 5S, the 5C is a lower-spec'd and cheaper (though by no means cheap) alternative to the iPhone 5S. The specs are largely the same as the iPhone 5, but the phone looks completely different -- namely, because of its colorful, plastic exterior.
So, what did iFixit find inside? For a start, all the ports and buttons are now plastic to match the case. There's also a larger volume rocker, the same adhesive strips found in the iPhone 5S holding the battery in place, a slightly bigger battery (1510 mAh compared to 1440 mAh), a slightly bigger vibrator motor, and the 8-megapixel camera on the 5C has an f/2.4 aperture compared to the f/2.2 aperture on the 8-megapixel camera on the 5S.
According to the specs, the iPhone 5C boasts an Apple A6 SoC, a 4-inch Retina Display (326ppi), 4G LTE connectivity and up to 32 GB of storage. Check out the full teardown, with all the gory pictures, on iFixit.
