A couple of months back, Asus’ VG248QE won our Smart Buy award in Asus VG248QE: A 24-Inch, 144 Hz Gaming Monitor Under $300. Now we have a special treat for those of you who followed our guidance. Nvidia reached out to us right after we published G-Sync Technology Preview: Quite Literally A Game Changer with an offer we couldn’t refuse. The company is making a limited number of modded monitors with G-Sync modules available starting next week.
Through Tom’s Hardware, Nvidia hopes to equip those of you who already own Asus’ VG248QE and a compatible GeForce card with its module kit so you can try G-Sync out for yourself.
The company plans to give away five kits (estimated value: $100). But there are a couple of rules, so listen up.
First, you need to be a do-it-yourselfer with contributions to the Tom’s Hardware forums. Second, you cannot resell the kit (yes, we imagine Nvidia will be keeping its eye on auction and classified sites). You must be able and willing to mod your monitor on your own, and provide feedback to Nvidia on what you think of G-Sync. Lastly, and we hate to do this every time, but the giveaway is only open to residents of the U.S., excluding the state of Rhode Island.
To enter, take a picture of yourself with your Asus VG248QE and a sign with your forum handle. Fill out the following entry form and attach your image. If we get more than five submissions, we’ll pick them out of a hat at random.
Good luck, and thanks for playing!!
