Teardown: Taking a Look Inside Nvidia's Shield
By , - Source: iFixit

Nvidia's Shield is a whole new breed of mobile device that combines smartphone and tablet technology and console gaming to form a totally new experience. We've already taken an in-depth look at Shield for our review, comparing it to other mobile gaming devices available today and putting it through its paces in terms of benchmarks. One thing we didn't do was take a look under the hood at the guts of the device.

Lucky for us, the ever brave iFixit team has done just that. The company gave Nvidia's Shield the usual teardown treatment and found the Nvidia Tegra 4 quad core CPU, 5-inch touchscreen display, 16 GB of flash memory, 2 GB of RAM, WiFi, Bluetooth, and Jelly Bean we already knew about. However, the iFixit guys also got a look at the cooling system, a fan that they say is a breeze to replace, and the battery, which is a three-cell, 3.7 V, 7350 mAh, rechargeable lithium-ion. The battery is apparently quite difficult to get at and so not very easily replaced. They also pointed out that the case kind of looks like Batman's mask. See?
