Startech - ATX8300 Pro

The Startech ATX 8300 Pro case presents an interesting choice.

Startech sent us their new ATX 8300 Pro, or the 8300 Pro for short, which is their new mid-tower offering. Startech is perhaps best known as a great source for odd parts or specialized items that you often cannot find anywhere else. The 8300 Pro is their latest attempt to expand their product line so that they can continue to be a one-stop shop for all computer needs. The Startech brand has also developed into a brand that many people depend on, so moving into the case market with this offering is perhaps not as much of a leap as you might think.

The first thing that caught our eye about the 8300 Pro is its claim that the case is expandable. Normally, when companies talk about the expandability of their cases, they mean that you can add more drives or cards to your system, but Startech takes a different approach in the case of the 8300 Pro. You can add additional parts to the case to enhance or expand it. Add-on features include a second hard drive cage, HDD shock absorber kit, or side panel 8cm fan kit, for example. These add-on products are reasonably priced and do provide the case with some additional room for growth. Why pay for these options if you are not going to use them? Although this concept might not set the case world on fire, it is nice to see Startech trying something different.
