- HIGHPOINT SA II...

HighPoint is popular for its RAID solutions at very aggressive price points, so it’s not surprising to see that the RocketRAID 2322 is the most affordable product in this roundup.
HighPoint’s concept is completely different, as the controller comes with two multi-lane Serial ATA ports, which HighPoint calls Mini-SAS. These ports are for external use only, and ideally you should use HighPoint’s X4 SATA Storage Enclosure, which hosts four Serial ATA hard drives. The controller card, however, is capable of managing as many as eight drives via its two multi-lane SATA ports.
The RocketRAID 2322 offers a top-notch performance although it does not have any integrated buffer memory. For this reason it doesn’t require a battery backup unit (BBU) either, which can be a cost issues for administrators on a low budget.
The controller chip carries a heat sink, which helps to avoid any unnecessary noise. Although the card is small it won’t fit into a 2U rackmount enclosure.

Array Creation

This is a very well put together article! It would be nice if there was a review with recent RAID cards while doing the same thing you did here.
